Indonesia supports Nay Pyi Taw Declaration on digital transformation

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) supports the Nay Pyi Taw Declaration on digital transformation in the ASEAN region."A safe and trusted digital ecosystem in the region can be realized by ensuring a safe and resilient cyberspace for digital activities, reliable digital governance with distributed services, policies related to the use of digital technology, and digital data management in facilitating cross-border trade and data exchange," Secretary General of the ministry, Mira Tayyiba, stated during a virtual meeting of the 2nd ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting, as quoted from a press release here on Saturday.Nay Pyi Taw's declaration titled "Digital Transformation: The Engine for ASEAN Economic Recovery from COVID-19" aims to lower the economic and social impacts of the pandemic.According to Tayyiba, digital transformation serves to expedite recovery through digital data guidelines and policies, cybersecurity, and online platforms. Kominfo also views content regulation as crucial to provide the widest possible digital-based services to the public and government services.During the China ADGMIN-2 Plus meeting, the ministry lauded the joint activities in the digital economy sector and technical training related to 5G infrastructure security last year.Tayyiba noted that the meeting adopted an Action Plan on Implementing the ASEAN-China Partnership on Digital Economic Cooperation (2021-2025), which is summarized in the ASEAN-China Partnership Action Plan 2025.Indonesia supports the Action Plan 2025 that aligns with its national work priorities, including the use of digital technology in handling and policies on the COVID-19 pandemic, digital literacy for the wider community and capacity building for Indonesian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as cybersecurity as a measure to provide a safe and resilient cyberspace for digital activities.In the meantime, at the ADGMIN-2 Plus India meeting, ASEAN member countries recognized India's progress in establishing the Centers of Excellence in Software Development (CESDT) in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.Related news: Leaked COVID-19 patients' data not from PeduliLindungi: BSSN"The meeting ratified the ASEAN-India 2022 ICT Work Plan that supports the ADM2025 initiative, including the establishment of the ASEAN-India Advanced IT Knowledge Hub (AIKH) at the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), capacity building, and knowledge sharing," Tayyiba stated.Kominfo is also optimistic of cooperating with India for emerging technologies, such as 5G, the Internet of Things, and the use of technology in disaster management."Priorities under the ASEAN-India 2022 ICT Work Plan will also be very relevant to Indonesia's strategic program in digital transformation," Tayyiba remarked.The ADGMIN-2 Forum ratified the ASEAN Cybersecurity Cooperation Strategy 2021-2025 policy and the ASEAN Regional CERT Implementation Paper as well as ASEAN Guidelines on 5G Ecosystem Development.
